About Kulbinder

My name is Kulbinder, and Missy Finds the Magic Within was born from a season when life unexpectedly stood still.

Before becoming an author, I spent many years in institutional banking — a structured, fast-paced world I was proud to be part of. But long before meetings and spreadsheets, I was a little girl who loved writing stories, filling scrapbooks with imagination no one else ever saw. Somewhere along the way, that part of me became quiet.

In 2023, after the birth of my second daughter, my life changed in a way I never anticipated. A traumatic birth experience forced me to step away from my career and slow down completely. Everything I had planned for myself paused. Life didn’t just slow down — it stopped.

In that stillness, something unexpected happened. With nowhere to rush to and no version of “who I was meant to be” to chase, I began noticing the beauty in the smallest moments — quiet mornings, shared laughter, deep breaths, time in nature. It was there I discovered that when life stands still, the extraordinary reveals itself through the ordinary. This realisation became the heart of Missy’s story.

Healing asked me to listen inward. Through gentle conversations, patience, and reconnecting with my inner child, writing returned — not as ambition, but as medicine. It became a way to honour everyday moments and to remember that magic doesn’t live somewhere “out there” — it lives within us.

Becoming a mother to two daughters deepened this understanding. I became acutely aware of how early we learn to disconnect from our feelings, intuition, and sense of wonder. I wished I had a book growing up that reminded me that magic is found in the ordinary — in noticing, feeling, and trusting ourselves. That wish became Missy.

Missy’s stories are rooted in the belief that children are born whole, wise, and deeply intuitive. Through gentle mindfulness, and everyday moments, Missy helps children recognise their feelings, build emotional resilience, and trust their inner voice, even when life feels uncertain.

Today, I am a wife, a mother, a storyteller, and a lifelong student of wellbeing. My work blends creativity, conscious living, and ancient wisdom with modern life, always returning to the same truth: when we slow down enough to notice, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

This book is for children, and for the grown-ups reading alongside them. For families navigating change, big feelings, or new beginnings. And for anyone who needs the reminder that they are not broken, they are becoming.

With love and gratitude,
